Nipple kit with brass hook for hanging an E14 or E27 lamp holder from a tube nipple. Do not forget the cable clamp!
The nipple is hollow so the cable can run through it. It is 50 mm long. The thread is M10 for lamps, and the kit includes two nuts.
The brass hook is fitted at the top of the nipple so you can hang the lamp on a hook.
The nipple then fits into the back of a lamp holder. The lamp holder has an M10 thread, and a small screw from the inside of the holder keeps it fixed to the nipple. To replace the lamp holder or nipple, you need to loosen that screw first.
You often find these parts at the top of a lamp, in the cup that is fitted against the ceiling. They are also used in some ceiling lamps where something is hung on a ceiling hook. You put the nipple with the hook through the metal plate (and a 10 mm hole) and screw the two nuts on from below to fix the lamp against the ceiling. With the nuts you can adjust how tight the lamp sits on the hook.
Older lamps sometimes have a folding hook where the metal is worn. We then use this kit to replace the old, often thin hook, which does not always leave room for a double insulated lamp cable to pass through the hole in the nipple.
